The Heart Behind Luna & Friends
Luna's story is the reason Luna & Friends exists.
When she was just 8 weeks old, Luna and her sister were abandoned on the streets of Mississippi. Thankfully, a Northern Virginia rescue organization stepped in, bringing Luna and several other dogs to the area in search of loving forever homes.
At the time, I had volunteered to foster.
The moment they placed Luna into my arms, my plans changed.
What was supposed to be a temporary foster arrangement quickly became a forever home. I became what the rescue world affectionately calls a "foster fail" the very second I met her.
As Luna grew, so did her impact on everyone around her. Her gentle spirit, calm temperament, and deep love for people eventually led her to become a certified therapy dog. Whether visiting someone in need of comfort or simply offering a wagging tail and a warm smile, Luna had a remarkable gift for making people feel loved.
Luna taught me that every animal deserves a second chance and that sometimes the pets we rescue end up rescuing us right back.
She is, and always will be, the heart behind Luna & Friends.
Addison 🎾
The One Who Almost Didn't Make It
Addison's story is a reminder of why rescue matters.
She was just minutes away from euthanasia at a shelter in Corpus Christi, Texas. No one was coming for her. No family was waiting. Her time had run out.
Then I saw her on TikTok.
Something about her touched my heart, and I knew I couldn't let her story end there. What was supposed to be her final day became the beginning of a brand-new life.
Today, Addison is full of joy, personality, and enough energy to keep us all on our toes. If there's a tennis ball nearby, she's happy. She reminds us every day that a single act of compassion can completely change the course of a life.
Addison is living proof that second chances save lives.
Reuben Feffer 🦴
The Goofball
Reuben's story began in a kill shelter in Greenville, Texas. Like so many shelter dogs, he was waiting for someone to notice him before it was too late.
Then I saw him on TikTok.
There was something about his face, his expression, and the way he looked into the camera that spoke directly to my heart. I knew I couldn't leave him behind. Arrangements were made to have him pulled from the shelter and transported all the way to Virginia, where he became part of our family.
Today, Reuben is the resident comedian of Luna & Friends. If you've ever joined one of our TikTok Lives, chances are you've seen him make a guest appearance. He's usually there to demand a cookie, steal the spotlight, or sass me by barking back whenever he gets the opportunity.
His goofy personality, endless charm, and talent for turning every moment into a conversation remind us that some of life's greatest joys come with four paws and a lot of attitude.
Reuben is proof that sometimes the dog who saves you is the one you set out to save.
Zorro 🖤🐱
The Official Welcome Committee
If you've never met a friendly cat, it's because you haven't met Zorro.
While many cats prefer to observe from a distance, Zorro is usually the first to greet visitors and make them feel welcome. Curious, social, and full of personality, he has never met a stranger. Whether you're family, a friend, or someone visiting for the very first time, Zorro believes everyone deserves a proper introduction.
His affectionate nature and outgoing spirit have won the hearts of everyone who meets him. Zorro reminds us that every animal is unique and that black cats deserve the same love, admiration, and opportunities as any other pet.
With his friendly personality and welcoming presence, Zorro proves that sometimes the best ambassador for rescue animals comes with four paws and a purr.
Gravy 🐱
The Quiet Survivor
Gravy is the gentle soul of the family. Quiet, shy, and incredibly sweet, he prefers a cozy spot and a familiar face over being the center of attention.
His journey hasn't always been easy. As a kitten, Gravy suffered abuse that resulted in a partial amputation of his tail. He was also born with a deformed paw and is blind in one eye. Despite the challenges he has faced, Gravy has never let them define him.
What makes Gravy so special isn't what he's overcome—it's how he continues to love. Patient, trusting, and full of affection, he reminds us every day that resilience comes in all forms and that some of the strongest hearts belong to those who have endured the most.
Gravy's story is a powerful reminder that every animal deserves compassion, understanding, and a second chance.
